"...Instead, he's found a kind of solace and inner satisfaction playing a very different role: That of the uncannily charismatic, accessibly eccentric, finger-picking indie-folk troubadour. Wasted notes and excess verbiage aren't part of Butler's lexicon. And while turbulent emotions surface through-out the six songs on "Hard Headed" — a disc that ends with the ambient sound of a rainstorm, framing the melan-choly of the last two tracks — Butler doesn't quite fit the mold of the confessional songwriter. Never I, S'Efforcer, Arborlea, Withdraw, East Viridian, Ol' Sport

Approaching the end of 2013, writing began for the unnamed project currently known as Never I. After several months of writing, in May 2014, the band began recording with Jeff Long at Trap Door Recordings to produce the debut EP entitled "Speak".
In January, 2015, Never I began performing live. Fusing their music with a show full of passion and energy. Show-goers describe their sound as raw, energetic, and overall refreshing. Putting their own twist on the sounds of their youth, NI has created a sound of their own and is ready to carry it wherever the road may lead.
On January 26, 2015, the band released their first single, "The Gentle Wind That Tears Down The House" featuring vocals from Eric Suarez (ex The Alchemy Index) and Jeff Long.
On April 14, 2015, nearly a year after recording began, the band released "Speak", a four track EP featuring their former vocalist Kyle Nesslinger.
Arun Bose (Ghosts Again/ ex Messenger Down) recorded drums for Speak and performed as the live drummer for the band in the months that followed.
Following the departure of Nesslinger during the recording process, the guys recruited Ian Powell for lead vocals. Powell has been performing live since the first show and is expected to be featured on the band's future releases.

After 10 years of scene-building in Portland,Maine as an mc and banner-guard for Milled Pavement Records, 5 years of touring throughout 5 countries (most recently France, Germany, and Switzerland this past April '12 with Milled Pavement CEO Moshe), over 700 performances, 2 critically acclaimed albums, 3 mixtapes, 2 ep's, 1 7" single, countless featured appearances, and performing live with a venerable who's-who of independent hip-hop, BRZOWSKI is throwing down the gauntlet with all the desperation of a man on the edge.

Winning poetry slams and MC battles, 3 European tours, appearing at SXSW, moon-lighting tour stints with Sage Francis, Ceschi, Epic, Galapagos4, Sole and the Skyrider Band, as well as playing to packed clubs supporting the varied indie-hop stripes of Busy Bee, El-P, Spose, Ill Bill, Slaine, Busdriver, 2Mex, Killah Priest, Atmosphere, Murs, Dalek, Brother Ali, Doug E. Fresh, Josh Martinez, Aceyalone, DJ Vadim, Astronautalis, Sleep, K-the-I???, B. Dolan, members of the Shapeshifters, and myriad others have cemented BRZOWSKI a reputation for quality live performance, an alignment with the best in the business, and an uncanny knack for harvesting the fans of those artists with higher profiles.

BRZOWSKI's grueling pace of hard-work and hard-living lends credence the axiom that to achieve any modicum of notoriety, you must suffer for your art.

Amandla, Bless These Sounds Under The City, The Emotron, Dinner Rabbits

Bless These Sounds Under The City is one of the most passionately interesting duos to emerge from the Queen City. These two guys are quickly perfecting synthetics, adding hues of electric folk and golden melodies to build a symphonic sound that is yet to be matched in originality around Charlotte. Pulling out iconoclastic instruments such as a Glockenspiel and even a melodica to inspire their live performances, frankly, this band knows how to create.

Deathcrown, Nemesis, Altar Blood, Old Scratch

DEATHCROWN is a band born from 25 years of influence and a passion for brutality. Ryan Parrish (Drums… Iron Reagan/ex-Darkest Hour) and Tommy Gunn (Guitar… The Medusa/Immortal Avenger/Narsilion) have been friends since they were 13 years old, and were in a Brutal/Melodic Death Metal band in the 90's, called Disinterment. After releasing some demos, a full-length on a small label, and years of packed regional shows, the band was forced to break up. Due to personal obligations, certain members knew they'd never be able to get to that "next level" of touring and recording. Everyone moved on to other endevours, musical and otherwise. Ryan joined Darkest Hour. Tommy formed Narsilion. But for the past 20+ years, Ryan and Tommy have always wanted to recapture the feeling they had the first time they covered "Corporal Jigsore Quandary" (Carcass) together, in Ryan's parents' garage. Finally, last year (2015), they made it happen.

In the summer of 2014, Tommy and long-time friend Mikael Parks (Vocals… ex-Arsis/Narsilion) were having a few beers, cranking some early 90's Edge Of Sanity, Entombed, Morbid Angel, etc… They decided that getting back to their roots was long overdue. Tommy sat down and wrote a few riffs, then called Ryan, and DEATHCROWN was born. Over the next few months, Tommy and Ryan got together to write some tunes, while Mikael work on lyrics. The guys decided to bring in another very close friend, David James (Bass… Kombat Wombat), and they began preproduction work for what would become the debut EP/7-inch, "Living Hell". The full-scale production/recording of "Living Hell" was completed in the fall of 2015, and is now ready for a release. The guys recently finalized the lineup with the welcome addition of Jake Vanderband (Guitar… ex-Skinjacket). DEATHCROWN is currently rehearsing and writing, gearing up for the debut release and a slew of live performances this Spring and Summer (2016).
Deathcrown is:
Mikael Parks (Vocals)
Tommy Gunn (Guitar)
Jake Vanderband (Guitar)
David James (Bass)
Ryan Parrish (Drums)

Lor, Kairos., Undrask

"Kairos. is a Progressive Metal band from Charlotte, NC,” is how this bio would start if we wanted you to read all the information listed on our Facebook page. “Kairos has played with several metal giants, such as progressive juggernauts Symphony X, and long-time thrashers Overkill,” is how this bio would start if we wanted to list our achievements in an attempt to garner favor. However, since we approach things a little differently, we thought we would start our bio like this:

CHUG CHUGGA bana dana beenawww CHUG CHA-CHUG

That’s the sound of chunky progressive metal soup warming your cold, winter-ravaged heart (and by winter, of course, we mean top 40). The Kairos. brand of Progressive M3T4L breaks a fresh wind in the metal scene. One moment you are floating in the reverb-saturated ocean of emotional compromises, and the next, BAM! You are in the throws of a war between Leonidas and a group of squealing pigs.

Kairos began with a little old-fashioned basement jamming, complete with obligatory pizza and Family Guy. We’ve added members over the past few years and finally released our debut EP “The Hologram Project” in October of 2015. As a band local to Charlotte, we enjoy playing shows with other great bands and having the opportunity to meet new people and hear new music. Our sound is constantly evolving, rooted in the fertile grounds that are the progressive metal greats, but never forgetting our love of the br00talz. Thought-provoking music infused with groovy breakdowns and jazzy jingles are what our audiences have come to expect. We will be sure to keep your landscape changing on your visit to the world of Kairos.

Tsuruda, Kirby Bright, Yung Earthy, Sokol Sound

Thomas Jay Tsuruda (born August 9, 1991) was immersed in music as soon as he could read. Starting with piano as a child, and with violin and vocal lessons soon to follow, he is no stranger to classical training and the self discipline that comes with it. Tsuruda attended a classical music school from kindergarten to 8th grade, and spent his childhood experimenting with every instrument he could get his hands on. Due to his early involvement with music, it comes as no surprise that Thomas fell into the world of producing at the young age of fifteen.

With influences like Madlib and Flying Lotus, Tsuruda's style is diverse, elegant, and complex. Disregarding all genres, he isn't afraid to push the boundaries of electronic bass and hip hop music. His live sets are always a unique surprise and have taken him around North America sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in the game. Tsuruda made his Vancouver debut with Ekali and High Klassified in May, 2015, shortly after his legendary sunrise set at Emissions Music Festival with G Jones and Slow Magic. He's also no stranger in the Bay Area of California, holding down stages with Penthouse Penthouse, Sweater Beats, Zeke Beats, Mikos Da Gawd, Woolymammoth and many more. He's headlined shows and other festivals such as Infrasound across the Midwest. You can also catch Tsuruda spin every week at his Friday night weekly in Hollywood, Ca at the club Dirty Laundry.

Tsuruda is now more focused on producing music than ever. His distinctive style is making big waves with 5 full length self releases under his belt and many other singles on various labels [Darker Than Wax, Team Supreme]

Paint Fumes, Trouble Boys, Wildlyfe, The Fill Ins

PAINT FUMES drew first blood together in the year 2011, sharing a mutual love of garage scuzz and brain-chain reaction, and the connection was immediate and fierce. Sounds congealed via weekly seances at the Sewercide Mansion in Charlotte, NC and relentless touring which brought their unhinged reverberations to points all across the USA. Like the lovechild of Link Wray and Cheetah Chrome, raised by Lemmy on the streets of Venus, they sweated out the fever every night in ecstatic style. By the time Slovenly Recs got around to spitting out a couple classic 45s and their debut platter Uck Life, most true heads and even those way out of the know alike had gotten the message. Deep within a blitzkrieg of treble and feedback, there were real live tunes to sink your teeth into – the stuff that's stuck in your head when you wake up in another dimension.
In the year of the horse, the 'Fumes swelled in ranks with Ian Rose and Ben Carr of NC synthtopian punks Natural Causes, starting twelve thrash bands and surviving on nothing but hallucinations of vegetarian chimichangas. Together this crew ruined the beaches of Europe with Los Vigilantes, converted hundreds on the all-night diesel-powered festival circuit and in the midst of it all took a vacation down to Puerto Rico and committed to tape a new full-length entitled If it ain't Paint Fumes it ain't worth a huff!

Annabel Lee, Divine Treachery, False Accusations, Den Of Wolves

Inception:
September - 2010. The concept was merely that, just a concept, not yet a reality, but soon to become one. The initial idea was based around a metal-core sound; harmonized guitar riffs, clean vocal choruses, and of course mixing in some breakdowns. During the winter of 2011/2012 the band began playing live and recorded their debut release. Over the next year and a half live shows were the primary focus of the group which proved to pay off as the band found themselves quite busy and also were presented with a lot of opportunities to provide local support for national touring acts at some of the area’s largest venues.

Creative Differences/Hiatus:
After laying the foundation and building a solid fan base, the time had come where a new recording was in order. As material was being compiled for this recording tension began to grow and creative differences started to become apparent. These were trying times and caused the band to take a brief hiatus and ultimately led to losing a member and the band continuing on as a 4 piece.

Here and Now:
Annabel Lee is moving forward and feel that they are stronger than ever. There’s a whole new level of drive and determination with the group and a very bright future ahead of them.

Finding influence in everyone from Feist to James Blake to The Avett Brothers, Charles Walker's Truth be Told is a brilliantly arranged showcase of diversity. From the trumpet-driven "Crow Song", to the lyrical rollercoaster "Hinges", to the RnB anthem "Trivial", Charles's voice and subject matter are the threads that hold the record together. In "Time to Spend", he offers a helpful hand to a friend who feels hopeless. He sings of a girl who struggles to forgive a father who walked out on the family on "The Crow Song". He deals with conflict of belief in a higher power in "Same Old Joke"- a conflict that he settles later, in "The Reason".
